Galería Cayón is pleased to start a collaboration with the Estate of Joan Hernández Pijuan (Barcelona, 1931-2005).

"Hernández Pijuan. Reencontrar el color", Cayón, 2020.

The artist -considered as one of the most important Spanish painters of the end of XX century- has been well-known, especially during the later years of his extensive career, for his monochrome pieces. He uses oil painting as an essential structuring of the space and the void in his work.

In this exhibition, we want to distance from the traditional look towards his legacy, and we emphasise the importance of colour. The works are comprised between 1978 and 2003.

Over this map of colours, we can appreciate the delicate symbols that Hernández Pijuan has always used, paying homage/ alluding to landscape: a small flower, clouds, or geometrical elements.

Beyond his black and white most famous canvas we are showing big pieces full of colour- ranging from pink to green or yellow.
