Marco Maggi was born in Montevideo in 1957. During the 90s he moved to New York where he studied a MA on Visual Arts at the NY University in New Platz.

He has represented Uruguay in different Biennials such as Mercosur Biennial (2001 & 2003), Habana Biennial (2003) and Venice Biennial (2015).

The works by Marco Maggi are intimate and detailed. Using common materials, the artist explores the relation between information and knowledge. His works need to be observed carefully and contrast with the moment we seem to be living, defined by speed. Marco Maggi invites the spectator to slow down, to focus and to explore the diverse levels that compose his delicate pieces.
