Galería Cayón is pleased to present, coincident with Apertura 2018, Soto Múltiple, the third solo show in the gallery devoted to Jesús Soto (Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, 1923 - Paris, France, 2005).

"Soto Múltiple", Cayón, 2018.

Jesús Soto was one of the most important artists of the XX Century. His explorations around the three dimensions started in the 50s, coincident with the period when he moved to Paris. During his life, he investigated the concepts of movement and transformation by creating a corpus of works that completely modify when the spectator moves around. The pieces that Soto made seem to be constantly vibrating.

Soto múltiple will show, in the two spaces of Blanca de Navarra, Madrid, a large set of multiples and editions that show his exploration of the movement generated with optical illusions. The three-dimensional objects offer diverse possibilities when moving around them and the serigraphy transcends the two dimensions due to the visual effects produced by the overlapping of very thin lines to flat colored areas.

Furthermore, a large-scale installation – Penetrable BBL Bleu – will be presented at Blanca de Navarra 9. This piece of 4,5 x 4 x 6 meters invites the spectator to go through it and become part of the work of art.

The work by Jesús Soto is present in the collection of the Tate Gallery, London; Georges Pompidou Center, Paris; Modern Art Museum, New York; Museum Reina Sofía, Madrid or the National Contemporary Art Museum, Seul.
