Galería Cayón is pleased to present Anthony McCall (Mirror) and Other Works, the first exhibition of Anthony McCall´s work in the gallery. He will fill the space with one of his characteristic projections, which is a hybrid of sculpture, cinema and drawing.

McCall adopted the term “solid light” to refer to his works which consist of, simultaneously, a two-dimensional line drawing on the wall, a three-dimensional sculptural volume, and a structure that discloses and modifies the drawing and the volume over time.

Split Second (Mirror), 2018, the installation presented in this exhibition, represents the latest development in McCall’s series. Based on a horizontally-oriented single projector and a wall-sized mirror, a slowly rotating conical membrane projects in two directions at once, one passing through the other, while the line drawing sits on the surface of the mirror, multiplying itself both backwards and forwards, adding to the uncertainty as to what is in real three-dimensional space, and what is reflected.
