«Comprising paintings, wall works, films, sculptures and installations, and with references to historical avant-gardes, popular and experimental film, music, graphic design, abstract painting and science fiction, Philippe Decrauzat’s art, for all it’s shape-shifting and sources, has a singularity of purpose, it is an ongoing inquiry into the act of perception, an inquiry that is marked by a «transgressive visuality». Decrauzat whether reanimating the languages of Constructivism, Minimalism and Op art, or geometric abstraction, operates at a remove from modernist notions of utopia or transcendence, and warps the contours of styles both venerated and debased, to his own end, often making unexpected connections (…) »

Philippe Decrauzat (Lausanne, Switzerland, 1974) is one of the leading names of the new generation of perceptual artists. He is co-founder of the independent space CIRCUIT and professor at the Ecole Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne (ECAL). A multidisciplinary creator, Decrauzat works with installations, films, engravings, sculptures and paintings that he presents in several series. His work brings together not only the various currents of perceptive creators, but also questions and solutions of the conceptual art of the 1960s, which makes his work absolutely exceptional.

The artist, who lives between Paris and Lausanne, has participated in the following institutional exhibitions in recent years: Le Magasin, Grenoble; House of Art, Ceské Budejovice; Le Plateau/Frac Ile-de-France, Paris; Musée Cantonal, Lausanne; Haus Konstruktiv, Zurich; Les Abattoirs, Toulouse; 'Still (Times Stand)', Centre régional d'art contemporain, Le Havre, solo exhibition; 'Now is Always also a Little of Yesterday and Tomorrow', Museum Haus Konstruktiv, Zürich; 'Replica', Blue Project Foundation, Barcelona, solo exhibition; 'Action & Reaction. 100 Years of Kinetic Art', Kunsthal Rotterdam, Rotterdam; 'Flatland / Abstractions narratives', Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean (MUDAM), Luxembourg or 'Dynamo: A century of light and movement in art, 1913-2013', Grand Palais, Paris.

His work can be found in some of the most important private and public collections, such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; Kunsthaus, Zürich, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Buenos Aires (MACBA) or the Centre Pompidou-MNAM, Paris. Thus, Philippe Decrauzat has been nominated for the Marcel Duchamp Prize (2022).

At the beginning of 2022, Galería Cayón host, in one of its Madrid spaces, an exhibition that analyzes the new channels of perception and that prominently feature the artist's work.
