The Victoria Cinema

In July 2018, Cayón opened a new space in the city of Mahón.

The exhibition hall is located on the property of the old Cines Victoria – formerly the Palace of the Baron of the Arenas – named after Queen Victoria Eugenia of Batenberg, wife of Alfonso XIII, as the space was built at the beginning of her reign. The cinemas were inaugurated on October 18, 1917 with the screening of The Legend of Pierrette, and became an essential stop for Menorcans arriving from other towns who used to stop to spend the night and entertain themselves with the venue’s programming.

Currently the property is a unique three-storey building, which houses a 500 m2 exhibition hall and 12 metres high, which is presented as a single open-plan exhibition hall – a former cinema – which is accessed from the reception.
