Soto Multiple
Madrid
Galería Cayón is pleased to present, coinciding with the opening of the exhibition season, Soto Múltiple — the third solo exhibition dedicated to Jesús Soto (Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, 1923 – Paris, France, 2005) at the gallery.

Soto Múltiple will bring together, across both Blanca de Navarra spaces, an extensive collection of small-format editions and multiples that showcase the artist’s ongoing exploration of movement generated through optical illusions.
His video installations, which the artist began working on starting in 1974, aim to create a closed circuit in which the audience feels actively involved in the action unfolding on the screen.

The three-dimensional objects offer multiple possibilities as the viewer moves around them, while the serigraphs transcend two dimensions through visual effects created by the overlapping of fine lines—reminiscent of the delicate rods that hang from his sculptures—over areas of solid color.
Additionally, at the Blanca de Navarra 9 space, the installation Penetrable BBL Blue will be presented. This large-scale interactive work, measuring 6 by 4.5 meters, invites the viewer to pass through it and become an active part of the piece, which continuously appears and disappears as one moves around it.
Jesús Rafael Soto’s work is included in the permanent collections of major international museums such as Tate Gallery in London, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul. Among the national collections, his work is notably part of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid.
