Galería Cayón

Our Gallery

Founded in December 2005, Cayón has three offices in Spain and the Philippines, located in Madrid, Menorca and Manila.

Established in 2005 in Madrid and with a wide-ranging programme across its current four spaces in Madrid, Menorca and Manila, Cayón specializes in mid-century and contemporary artists with a main focus on spatial relations and conceptual themes. The gallery places a distinct emphasis on movements such as Minimalism, Cinetic Art, Neo-Conceptual Art, Geometry & Neo-Geometry, and the integration of mediums like video and performance art. Cayón continuously builds relations between established and emerging artists, whilst creating unprecedented dialogues related to public spaces and visual perception.

Cayón plays a pivotal role in preserving and promoting the legacies of influential mid-century Spanish artists, including Joan Miró, Julio González, Pablo Palazuelo, José Guerrero, Joan Hernández-Pijuan, and Juan Giralt.

Furthermore, our program consistently presents distinctive shows of contemporary and 20th century artists from abroad within the local narrative, alongside promoting the work of contemporary Spanish artists globally. Some important exhibitions include Mel Bochner, Alan Charlton, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Jan Dibbets, Dan Flavin, Dan Graham, Nancy Holt, Minjung Kim, Yves Klein, Marco Maggi, Anthony McCall, Enrico Castellani, Joel Shapiro, Jesús Rafael Soto, and Stanley Whitney and Bernar Venet.

Expanding its global presence, Galería Cayón established an office in Manila in 2017, facilitating cultural exchange and contributing to the rediscovery of significant figures such as Alfonso Ossorio and Fernando Zóbel within their native context.

A highlight of the gallery’s recent endeavours is the opening of its extraordinary historic space in Menorca. Covering over 1200 m2, this unique venue allows unparalleled projects of pivotal figures every summer, such as Joan Miró, 2023; Joel Shapiro and Julio González, 2022; Carlos Cruz-Diez, 2021; Yves Klein and Stanley Whitney, 2019; Fred Sandback, 2018. For 2024, we are pleased to present a Solo Show by Jesús Rafael Soto.
